Safeguarding Privacy
Another of our key design criteria was to structure our technology is such a way that we engender the trust of the general public. Our services will only achieve public acceptance if they are both demonstrably beneficial and are non-threatening in terms of both security and privacy.
Security
One of the key decisions for work4sure was not to use ActiveX. This was partially because it is a browser-specific technology and partially because of the way that ActiveX installs itself into the browser. For work4sure, it was important that we made no configuration changes to the end customer's computer, and left no data exposed, and for that reason we chose instead to use a native program that simply executes and then remains in the temporary cache until cleared out. Even while it's sat in the temporary cache, there's nothing mischievous that can be done with it, so it's entirely safe.
Personally identifiable
Information
The most important thing to understand is that we do NOT collect ANY information that identifies
the end customer. We fully understand the concerns people have about the protection
of their privacy when on the web. That is why we do not want to
know about them. We are not interested in who they are, what they do,
or where they come from. We do not want to know their shopping preferences
or any other information about their online experiences. In short,
they are, and will remain, anonymous to us.
How do we achieve this? Well, we do not collect any personal information
from them. We specifically do not collect any information that could,
in any shape or form, identify who they are. Hence, we do not and
cannot, pass on any personal information to any client of ours.
When the end customer clicks the button and uses the service, the information that
we collect will be labelled with a unique ID number for that session
only and neither us nor our clients are able to identify who the end customer is from that number or our data associated with it. Such an arrangement protects our clients, work4sue and above all, the end customer.
Not many businesses can be proud to boast "You're just a number
to us" of end customers but at work4sure we're very proud of that!
Uniquely Identifiable Information
We take any threat to the end customer's online privacy very seriously, and this includes data that whilst it doesn't identify a person, is unique.
Computers contain certain information that can uniquely identify
them on the Internet. Examples would be
the serial numbers of the motherboard, hard drives, batteries,
and other components.
Ordinarily, we do not even detect this information and hence cannot uniquely
identify a computer. However, there are instances when knowledge
of this information is important to the business you are interacting
with. For example, some computer manufacturers use a unique number,
often called an Asset Tag, for identifying your computer when providing
technical support. Therefore, when our technology is used for technical
support purposes, such information may be included as part of the
information we generate.
As an example of this, and by way of demonstrating that we do not gather anything identifiable, here is a publicly accessible data result collected by the work4sure technology for the computer of the Managing Director of work4sure. We cannot express a greater confidence in the privacy afforded by our technology than that!.
